I was gifted my first pair of jeans in 1995. I don’t remember where they were from but I remember they were mine. It was winter and my mother preferred corduroy and wool. The denim, she said, wouldn’t keep me warm enough. One morning, I ran my leg down the leg of my denim to find it was lined in red flannel. I was not a happy camper. This made me realize something very early on in life about this very common fabric. We each had a favorite pair.
